The Flow Control Gate is an industrial device used for the precise, continuous regulation of the flow rate of bulk, granular, and coarse materials in transfer lines and discharge openings of silos and vessels. The unit consists of a cubic housing with flanged inlet and outlet openings, an internal cylindrical rotor equipped with a triangular control blade (which determines the cross-sectional flow area of the material), and a rotary hydraulic actuator mounted on the output shaft to drive the rotor's rotation.
Operation is based on the controlled rotation of the cylindrical rotor around its central axis: upon command from the hydraulic actuator and PLC control system, the rotor is positioned at various angles, and depending on the internal blade's position, the material's cross-sectional flow area is progressively increased or decreased according to process requirements. Due to its ability to provide precise, continuous flow rate regulation — unlike simple on/off gates — this type of valve is widely used in industries such as cement, mining, steel, and mineral processing to control the material feed rate to downstream equipment such as mills, kilns, and conveyors.
